    It was a law that allowed nabraska and kansas to decide if they wanted to have slavery or not. Kansas voted to become a slave state while nebraska was free. It led to a couple masacres which led Kansas to be known as the bleeding state.

    Lee was superintendent of WestPoint from 1852-1855 and trained many men who would be serving in the war. Abraham offered him the job of Federal forced in 1861.He served in the civil war in 1861 and the next year became Military advisor to Jefferson Davis. He had many accomplishments during the period of the civil war.

    Dred Scott was a slave whose owners took him to a free state and while he was there he tried to sue for his freedom bu the court denied his request.. On march 6 a cheif said that slaves were not citizens of the u.s. and therefore were not protected by the federal goverment. They could not sue the fedreal goverment.

    James buchanan was the president of the united states from 1857-1861. He served when the country was coming part and there was some division over slavery. He only lasted one term because he wasnt able to keep the country united. James served for many years in the congress and in he cabinet. Presidnet Buchanan is considered one of the worst presidents to lead our country.

    He was promoted to brigadier general. He started a new kind of warfare of total destruction. He is famous for his "march to the sea" He had made a 40-60 mile wide path of destruction through georgia. He got them to surrender.

    He was born in Ohio on April 27,1822 and died July 23, 1885. He was the Commander of the Union Army. He was a very aggresive leader which led him to be very succesful He later became the 18th u,s president of the united states. He was nicknamed the "unconditional surrender". In !866 he was promoted to full general and over saw the military operations in the reconstruction.
