Rosa Park got on a Montgomery, Alabama public transport bus and noticed the back part of the bus was full, she then sat at the front of the bus, which was the non colored section of the bus. The bus then filled up and when a white man told Rosa to move from his seat, she refused and was forcefully removed and arrested. All for sitting in the non colored section of the bus.

Martin Luther King Jr. took notice of the terrible crime it was to arrest someone, for sitting on a bus. He then lead the Montgomery Bus boycott, and Montgomery AL suffered from it's lack of income. Montgomery AL finally allowed colored individuals to sit on the non colored section of their buses, after a year of suffering.

The Greensboro sit-ins were a series of non-violent protest that planned on stopping all white lunch counters and stores from segregating against colored individuals.

Inspired by the Greensboro Sit-ins, a couple young students began sitting in all white counters.
