    Rose Parks refuses to give up her seat on a public bus to make room for a white passenger. Parks was arrested, tried, and convicted for disorderly conduct and violating a local ordinance.
  • Little Rock, Arkansas Desegregated

    President Dwight D. Eisenhower, determined to enforce the orders of the Federal courts, sends in the 101st Airborne Division to Little Rock to protect nine African American students who were being refused entrance into the newly desegregated high school.
