The American Revolution

  • Proclamation of 1763

    This Proclamation affected all 13 colonies by making it forbidden to expand their land. This also effecte traders since only licensed traders could travel west or trade with native Americans.
  • The Boston Massacre

    The Boston Massacre was when British soldiers had shot five civilians and were sent to court. Only two soldiers were accused of manslaughter and got their thumbs branded.
  • The Boston Tea Party

    The Boston tea party was a political act by throwing tea into the Boston ocean. This act was what started the American revolution.
  • Boston Port Act

    This intolerable act was to punish the civilians that lived in Boston. This act closed the ports of Boston.
  • The Battles of Lexington and Concord

    The battles of Lexington and Concord were the first battles of the American revolution and had won those battles. The American's won the battle of Lexington killing 250 British soldiers and went back to Concord.
  • Battle of Bunker Hill

    The American learned that the British were going to occupy the unoccupied hills. The response to this was to sneak 1,200 soldiers onto Bunker Hill and Breed Hill. The British won this battle but they lost 226 soldiers and had 800 wounded soldiers.
  • George Washington

    George Washington was the commanding general of the Continental Army. He lost the battle of Long Island and was run down across New Jersey. He led his troops along Delaware river and won the battle of Princeton and Trenton.
  • The Declaration of Independence

    The Declaration of Independence declared our independence from Britain. It was written by five members called the committee of five. The five were Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Robert Livingston, and Roger Sherman.
  • The Battle of Saratoga

    The battle of Saratoga was a mix of the battle of Freeman's Farm and The Battle of Bemis Heights. The British gave up their army of 6,000 armies. This American victory convinced the french to help with the continental army.
  • The Battle of Yorktown

    The Battle of Yorktown was the last battle that was fought on land. This battle was aided by the French and once the french defeated a British fleet the other one surrendered.
  • Thomas Jefferson

    Thomas Jefferson was the minister of France for 1785 to 1789. He did a lot when he was elected president like making the Louisiana purchase and making Lewis and Clark go explore the new land. Jefferson made sure that America didn't joint he war with Britain and France. He passed the Embargo Act of 1807 completely isolating America.
  • Alexander Hamilton

    Alexander Hamilton was one of the founding fathers of the United States. He fought in the war, helped write a draft for the constitution. He was also the first secretary of the treasury.
