    Montgomery Bus Boycott
    Encyclopedia of Alabama The boycott was held in Montgomery, Alabama, People started to boycott buses after the arrest of Rosa Parks. This was a non-violent protest. The result of all of this was the buses became segretated.
  • Pearsall Plan

    Pearsall Plan
    It was held in North Carolina. North Carolina adopted the Pearsall Plan. The government agreed to pay for white students to go to private school because of racial issues. White students paid to go to private schools instead of mixed racial schools.
  • Little Rock Nine

    Little Rock Nine
    The Little Rock Nine was made up of 9 African-American students who were sent to an all white school in Little Rock, Arkansas. Elizabeth Eckert was one of the 9 students and she did not know that all of the students needed to go together and she showed up all by herself. Governor Fabus would not allow them into the school. Elizabeth Eckert showed courage by walking away while people were yelling and screaming at her. By the end all of the 9 students sucessfully graduated from the school.
  • Freedom Riders

    Freedom Riders
    The Freedom Riders were made up of African-American and white CORE members. This soon became a very violent protest. They slashed bus tires and broke windows and threw rocks at the buses. But in the end the outcome was they banned segregration on interstate buses.

    The civil rights act of 1964 was held in the United States. This event was a non-violent protest. One of the leaders in this was Lyndon Johnson. The result of this protest was it banned discrimination not only by race but also sex,religion, or natural orgin.
  • Voting Rights Act of 1965

    This speech was held in Selma, Alabama. The purpose of this speech was so that African-Americans had a right to vote. Johnson was the person who had gave the speech on the right for African-Americans to vote. The result of all of this was it was passed and then African-Americans to vote.
  • King's Assianation

    King's Assianation
    About.com King was assianated in Memphis, Tennesse at his hotel room on his balcony. James Earl Ray was the man who had shot and killed him at 6:01 p.m. The outcome of his assianation was a lot of angry rioting in more than 100 cities.
  • Busing in Charlotte

    Busing in Charlotte was a non-voilent protest. The NAACP was responsable for holding this protest. It was held in Charlotte, North Carolina. Busing became an acceptable mean of integreating schools across the country.
