Benno and Heinz were sent away to safety by their parents to cross the border into Holland.

Arrived at a narrow house to sta with a nice family for the night.

Transferred to Emmakinderhuis Convent in Wijk Aan Zee, Holland.

Trasferred to an untidy orphage in Amsterdam.

Transferred to a hostel in Felixstowe, England.

Transferred to a different hostel in Claydon, Enland. Benno was in Baldwin House (as shown in image).

Heinz turns 14 and now had to make a living. He moved to Birmingham, England

Benno turns 13 and has his Bar Mitzvah at the hostel.

Benno turns 14 and leaves the hostel to start a life on nhis own. He moves to Lonon to an apartment across from Heinz'.

Benno and Heinz hear from a previous neighbor that their parents and little brother Charlie had been sent to Auschwitz concentration camp in March 1943 and had been gassed imediately upon arrival. The neighbor was transported with them to Auschwitz but was not gassed. They hope and pray that this information is not true. Image details: A gas chamber in Auschwitz concentration camp.

Heinz marries a girl named Fella.

Benno marries a young English girl named Rita and they been married for 54 years. They have 3 children and 7 grandchildren.

Benno gets the official papers from the Red Cross stating that that indeed his family had been killed in Auschwitz. :(
