Invented by Paul Nipkow in Germany. Allowed long distance calls and was essential in televisons in the 1930's and 20's.

First patented by Almon Stowger. Although the dial wasn't introduced until 1904.

radio

Marconi invented the radio. Could send and receive radio signals.

Computer

WU introduces coast-to-coast fax service. John Atanasoff and Clifford Berry invent the first electronic computer at the University of Iowa. In 1973 a judge ruled in a patent infringement suit that their research was the source of most of the ideas for the modern computer.
