Meat Inspection Act
On June 30th 1906 then President Theodore Roosevelt signed the Meat Inspection Act. It prohibited the sale of adulterated and mislabeled livestock. It also made sure that livestock were slaughtered and processed in sanitary conditions. It mandated that the USDA inspect all, cattle, swine, sheep, goats, and horses.
