  • Plessy v Ferguson

    On this day the Supreme Court ruled in this court case that seperate but equal facilities are constutional. This decision set the precedent that seperate facilities were allowed but had to be equal. Plessy was white in color but because he was 1/8 black he had to sit in the colored section on the bus.
  • Brown v. Board of Education

    In this case, the supreme court ruled that separete schools for black and white students were unconstitional. This ruling overturned the Plessy V. Ferguson case which stated "sepearate but equal". Also the ruled the Brown case a violiation of 14th amendment of the U.S constitution.
  • Murder of Emmett Till

    Emmet Till was a 14yr old boy who was murderded for being accused of flirting with a white girl. He was visitin family members when they beat him up and shot him in the head. These were two white men who did this and during the court case an all white male jury acquitted them.
  • Rosa Parks & the Montgomery Bus Boycott

    Rosa Parks & the Montgomery Bus Boycott
    Rosa Parks was a women whoo refusedd to give up her seat to the white section of the bus. She was arrested and fined and this practically sparled the boycott. The public buses were boycotted for 381 days by blacks
  • The Founding of Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) & Martin Luther King

    This conference was created by 60 black ministers and led by Martin Luther King. MLK Led this group through series of marches to protest against the allowment of sergregation and discrimination. The SCLC had their first victory in 1963, Birminham, Alabama
  • Little Rock Nine & Central High School

    After the previous case Brown v Broard of Education which ended school segregation, Little Rock failed to comply with the law. Littie Rock denied entry to 9 blacks by having National Guards prevent them. Once the president heard of it, he threatend Arkansas to let them in and once the refused he ordered paratroopers to put the National guards under command
  • Greensboro Sit-in

    It was started by 4 men who were freshmen at North Carolina A&T university. The were refused service at a restaraunt, so theysat there until they were served. This spraked sit ins that over 70,000 people praticed.
  • Freedom Ride/Freedom Riders

    Freedom Ride/Freedom Riders
    It was was a goup of 7 blacks and 7 whites that rode the bus to protest against segreation of the interstate bus. They rode the buses from Washinton D.C to the dee south protesting. Although going through many hardships during it , after about 3 months their methods had spread to train staions and airports.
  • March on Washington

    This was the largest political rallies in the U.S. More than 200,000 particapants marched and protested the end of racism This rally was led by A. Phlllip Randolph and Bayard Rustin
