The 13th Amendment was created to abolish slavery. At the end of 1865, all southern states execpt Texas had been ready to rejoin the union and had grew new governments.

Lincoln and congress had passed the Freedmen's Bureau. The Freedmen's Bureau had let all blacks go to school. The Freedmen's Bureau also provided needs like food, clothing, and medical needs.

When Lincion died, Vice President Andrew Johnson took office. Andrew then went on to make the 13th, the 14th and the 15th ammendment. Andrew Served till the end of his term in March 1869.
