Larry P. v. Riles
Intelligence test was banned in California when African American students was being assessed for retardation. There was an extremely large amount of African American students that was placed in special education classes for mild retardation.

Smith v. Robinson
In this case the U.S. Supreme court sided with the school district, because the parents in the case did not pursue other options prior to the court case. Because of the Supreme court decision, the U.S. congress passed an amendment to the EHA, which overruled the
