    The ICMB was the first satellite to orbit Earth. The mission name was the R-7 Semyorka, carried out during the cold war.

    The first geosynchronous satellite was launched in 1963. The advantages of these satellites were that they permanently stayed visible in sky at a certain place. This meant antennas don’t need to track them down.

    The Luna 9 was the first aircraft to have a soft landing on the moon. Also the first to transmit photos from the moon to earth. This developed our knowledge about space a lot as scientist got photos of what the moon looks like.
