    Sputnik struck fear in the hearts of the U.S because they realized that the soviets now had a ballistic missile the soviets could launch at the U.S. Sputnik was the first satellite in space.

    Yuri was the first man in space he orbited the earth. He was born on March 9, 1934 and he was a cosmonaute for the soviet space corps.
  • Alan Shepard, First American in Space

    Alan was the first in space and the fifth to walk on the moon. While on one of his missions he also played golf on the moon. He was born on November 18, 1923.
  • John Glenn

    John Glenn was born on July 18, 1921. He was the first American to orbit the earth, the oldest person to be in space, and He was the senator of his home state Ohio.
  • Apollo 1 Attempts Launch

    Apollo 1 was far from a success it was a fatal command module or CM fire. the crew on board was killed which were Gus Grissom, Ed White, and Roger Chaffee. They tried to get the astronauts out but the seal they put on the CM door was to strong.

    Apollo 11 was the Famous Neil Armstrong moon landing. Neil and his partner Buzz A. spent time on the moon gathering rocks, doing experiments, walking around where they landed, and having a little fun.

    Apollo CM docks with the Soyuz 19 ship of the Soviet Union. The two ships docked together on July 17, 1975. It lead to the creation of the ISS. The ISS was built by many different countries.
