  • Monkey in Space

    A monkey named Albert was sent into space in a rocket to see the effects of space travel, and died of suffocation.

    Sputnik 1 was the first man made satellite launched into space. It was from Russia, and thus sent America into a panic, since they had no idea what it was/did. This was why NASA was founded.

    Liaka the dog was sent into space by the U.S.S.R. Liaka overheated after she got into space. This was to see if Russia could send people into space.

    The U.S. got their first satellite into space. This is when the U.S. got a satellite into space for the first time.

    NASA was established so we could catch up with the USSR's space technology development. This began the space race. President Eisenhower ordered it's establishment.

    Yuri Bagrin was the first man to orbit the moon. Russia beat America to the first orbit.

    John Glenn went to space for the U.S. This shows America was catching up to Russia in the space race.

    John Herschell Glenn orbits Earth. It shows that the U.S. is not far behind.

    Ms. Tereshova gets into space to be the first woman in space. This is showing that males and females are even in modern society.

    First activities outside a space shuttle by Alexai Leonoiv. This shows that people can go into space without dying.

    A space walk is when someone gets out of the ship and into space. Ed White was the spacewalker.

    People go into space to evaluate the effects. Russia goes into space to test the effects on their technology.

    The U.S. gets to the moon and back for the first time. This is showing that the U.S. could get to the moon and back.
  • 1st man on the moon

    Neil Armstrong was the first person on the moon. He was from the U.S., showing how much further we had come in the space race.
