    V-2 was the first rocket to reach 100 km from Earths surface. (Entered space) Germany sent the missel that was launched into space.

    Laika was the first dog in space. This Russian space dog was used to see if a human could go to space. Laika was the first dog to orbit the earth.

    Luna 9 was the first space craft to softly land on the moon, took and sent pictures of the moon back to earth. On this mission they found out that the moons surface is strong enough to support heavy weight.

    Lettuce was the first food that was grown in space that someone actally ate. This proves that you can produce thins in space. USA and Japan worked together on that experiment.

    USA sent a space probe that was the first to orbit the dwarf planets Ceres and Vesta. This sent back images of the surface of the two dwarf planets.

    USA recieved samples of what a comet is actually made of. This showed what impact comets had on our solar system and what they were made of.
