  • 1885- Banff National Park Act

    Banff National Park Act was created as a wilderness recreation park and vacation park, but it's guidlines did not contain any explicit conservation function.
  • Lake of the woods control Board Act

    Purpose and powers of the board to regulate water levels in Ontario, Manitoba, and U.S. system including Lake of the woods, Lac Seul, and the Winnipeg and English Rivers.
  • The Department of the environment act

    Enhancing the quality of the natural enviroment, providing weather services, coordinating polices and programs to achieve environmental objectives.
  • Canada Wildlife Act

    Authorizes the aquistion of the land by the federal government for the purpose of creating National Wildlife Areas: refuges under protectio from habitat disturbance and hunting.
  • Wildlife Policy for Canads

    This was a major step in a new way of looking at a conservation, by emphazing the maintenance and restoration o biodiversity and ecological proccss.
  • The National Forest Strategy

    Laid out a plan for completion of an ecological classification of forest lands, completion of network of protected areas representative of Canada's forest.
  • Canadian Environmental Assement Act

    The act was passed to ensure that rigrous environmental assesment would be preformed to projects carried out by the federal government.
  • National Accord for the protection of Species at Risk

    Makes different levels of government put programs in act to protect endangered species and their habitats in effect.
  • Bill c-65 introduced

    Bill c-65 would have been the first act to keep safe endangered and threatened animals, but it didn't pass.
  • Migratory Birds Convention Act

    The act prevents the commercialization of migratory birds by hunting and trafficking.
