First few Time Jumps
Billy was leaning against a tree in 1944. His head tilted back, his attention began to swing with his life, passing into death, where there was just violet light and a hum.
He swung into life again going towards pre-birth which was red light and bubbling sounds, then swung into life again being a little boy taking a shower with his father and swimming lessons.
Billy then traveled in time to 1965 where he was 41 years old visiting his mother who was in and old people's home. -
Colonel's home of Cody, Wyoming
Ask for Willy Bob, escaping, Weary was thinking about the agony in his own feet. KV was saying how his war buddy and him know what he is talking about but not literally there. Stating that if anything like this happens again to just call up “Wild Bob”. War and how people die, cities get ruined around them, and how sometimes there is nothing else to do or be ashamed of. -
Lazzaro and a dog
Lazzaro was once bitten by a dog, and fed the dog something disturbing. He got a spring off a clock and cut it into pieces, they were sharp like razor blades and stuck them into a piece of steak and fed it to him and watched him die/suffer with blood squirting out. -
Arrival to Dresden
The skyline was intricate and voluptuous and enchanted and absurd. It looked like a Sunday school picture of Heaven. Steam radiators whistled cheerily, streetcars clanged, telephones rang and were answered, Architecture was unbelievable to Billy. Thousands of people were watching the parade that he marched -
Wagon Scene
He is reminded of the milkmen’s horses early in the morning in Ilium when he was a boy. It’s shaped like a coffin, and it reminds him of the animals and how they are treated and how they are dead. Billy looks at the animals in tears -
Billy meeting Trout
Billy was driving down a dark alley and meets him in his hometown of Ilium in 1964. Billy thought Trout was a prisoner of war and maybe that is why he recognized him. Billy helps him deliver papers driving him house to house in the Cadillac. Trout was mind blown that he met such an avid fan. Billy invited Trout to his 18th wedding anniversary party. He was talking with optometrist’s wife and everybody at the party, and was a hit. Billy was amazed that he met Trout the way he did -
Time jump
Billy is driving on his way to a Lions Club luncheon through Ilium’s black ghetto, still smoldering from recent riots, and then through a section gutted for urban renewal which reminds him of the war, Dresden after it was firebombed.
He also opens his eyes finding himself doing an eye examination, learning that he fells asleep often at work. -
Time jumps from 1945 and 1968
Billy is on the plane and they are singing which reminds him of many things. The Polish jokes, and then seeing a Pole that is hung in Dresden. The quartet from the barbershop was on the board that was reminding him of the 3 Musketeers. -
Valencia's Death
Valencia found out about the plane crash and was hysterical, she adored Billy and was crying and yelping. She was driving and missed the correct turnoff from the throughway. She applied her power brakes and a car slammed into her from behind, she was okay but went to the hospital where she was found unconscious, overcome by carbon monoxide, after falling into the steering wheel making the horn go off. -
Tralfamadorian Zoo
Was displayed in a simulating Earthling habitat with the furnishing stolen from Sears. He has a color TV and a couch for a bed, end tables, chairs, lamps with ash trays. Pool table carpeting, bathroom and kitchen. The phonograph worked and the dome had no walls and no place to hide. Tralfamadorians asked Billy questions relayed by the keyboard instrument and the guide.
