    Organized by President Harry S. Truman and was put forward to plan nation wide fallout shelters. It failed due to an insufficient budget and aimed foucs on evacuation stragies.
  • A-Bomb Developed by UK

    A-Bomb Developed by UK
    Roughly 50 British scientists worked on the Nuclear bomb used by America during World War 2 in New Mexico, they returned home to begin creation and testing of a British nuclear bomb. The first royal nuke was tested on the Monte Bello Islands off the coast of Austrialia.

    Death of Stalin
    Stalin dies after spending a few days, gravely ill, in his death bed. Nikita Khrushchev took Stalin's place as leader, led the Soviets during the height of the Cold War.

    An armistice was signed that had representatives deciding the fate of the thousands of prisoners of war. A new border was then created, forming North and South Korea as a result, adding a demilitarized zone between the two, new nations.

    Protesters in Poland were violentley demanding improved working conditions after facing severe repression. The USSR countered the problem by deploying tanks into Poland which resulted in over a hundred death including a 13 year old boy.

    The first major threat to the Soviet Union control. The revolt caused the Hungarian government to collapse on itself and as a result thousands of militias were formed. Soviets controled government and supressed all public oposition.

    The soviets surprised the world with the first artifically earth sattelite. The launch of the Sputnik 1 laucnhed the beginning of the Space race and introduced new military, technological, and scientific developments.

The invasion was an utter failure with the group being defeated in less than 3 days by Cuban armed forces under direct command of Fidel Castro.

    The Cuban Missile Crisis was a 13 day confronation between te United State and the Soviet Union. The result of the crisis was that the Svoiet Union had to remove all missiles from Cuba and the United States had to remove all missiles from Turkey and Italy. This event was the closest event in the Cold War that could have turned into a full scale Nuclear war.

    When the Soviet Union refused to help China with the deveoplement of nuclear weapons, China had to rely on their own scientist to develop the atomic bomb. When Chnia successfully developed the bomb, they promised it would only be used for self-defense and safeguarding national security.

    The Communist nation of the Dominican Republic was undergoing a civil war and foreign aligations drew the United States in. After US involvement the war was supressed and America remaiend in the country for quite some time as the Organization of American States.
  • USS Pueblo Seizure

    USS Pueblo Seizure
    North Korea calimed that the US Navy vessel was intruding on Korean territorial waters by 7.6 miles and claimed to have evidence to prove it. The US calimed that the ship was on international waters and that any and all evidence brought by the Koreans was fabricated. The ship and crew were captured and the ship remains in korean hands today.

    The treaty was world wide and had the objective of preventing the spread of nuclear weapons and weapon technology. This treaty was signed by around 190 parties. More countries have signed this than any other arms limitation.

    The Apollo 11 mission by NASA sussefully landed the first ever humans on the moon. The landing on the moon succesfully ended the Space Race between Soviet and United States.

    A huge study was done on the US involvement in Vietnam during the war. The study covered nearly twenty years of information and was released to the public to see.

    The visit of President Nixon to China helped to normalize relations with the two countries and improved the chances of no conflict between the two nations. Formally seen as an enemy, this visit ended nearly 25 years of seperation.

    The Chilean government was overthrown by both US Armed forces and Chilean police. The government was seen as inefficient and unfair and President Salvador Allende had little to no control over the politcal state of Chile.
