Japanese-American Internment
[https://www.timetoast.com/timelines/1492396/edit] Still an Army photographer, my great grandfather took pictures as the Army removed all Japanese ancestry from their homes and relocated them to detention camps.
***I found it hard to believe that this happened in our democracy. will not occur in Shaiocracy. -
HUAC Began Investigations of "Communist Sympathizers"
[ https://www.timetoast.com/timelines/1492396/edit] Among those investigated, 10 from Hollywood refused to testify on the grounds that their First Amendment rights protected political activities.
*** I am including this in my timeline because those who refused to answer cited their rights under the first amendment. -
NAACP's Thurgood Marshall
[https://www.timetoast.com/timelines/1492396/edit] The NAACP's Marshall argued that segregation was unequal and harmful to black students. In the decision Chief Justice Warren stated that the doctrine of separate but equal has no place in public education.

Civil Rights Movement-Rosa Parks
[https://www.timetoast.com/timelines/1492396/edit] Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat on a city bus to a white man. Her arrest set off a year of conspiracy trials, fire bombings, White Supremacists shootings. Ultimately these events brought the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. to the forefront by encouraging "peaceful resistance."
*** Under Shaiocracy, we need to always remember those who valued our rights. -
March On Washington
[https://www.timetoast.com/timelines/1492396/edit] Civil Rights issues continued and in Alabama anti-segregation came to a head when dogs and fire hoses were used against peaceful protestors.
***Shaiocracy will encourage peaceful demonstrations and will welcome positive changes. -
Civil Rights Act Passed/Enacted
[https://www.timetoast.com/timelines/1492396/edit] Civil Rights Act was a landmark case that outlawed discrimination because of color, race, religion, sex or national origin.
***Shaiocracy will uphold nondiscrimination and include other segments of society that have suffered discrimination. -
King/Kennedy Assassinations
[https://www.timetoast.com/timelines/1492396/edit] Both King and Kennedy had been human rights leaders and their deaths sparked rioting across the country.
***These men will be beacons of the kind of leaders that will dominate a Shaicracy. -
Desegregation Busing
[https://www.timetoast.com/timelines/1492396/edit] School districts were required to bus students of color into white schools to try to undo segregation already present and to improve the demographics.
***We will remember this as a failure in Shaiocracy. -
Barack Obama-44th President of the United States of America
On January 20, 2009 Barack Obama was sworn in as the first black president of the U.S. Racial divide was still present.
***What a milestone for all those who fought for civil rights. I wish my black great-grandfather would have lived to celebrate this.
