Thousands of African Americans migrated to Kansas. They migrated to the west to claim land and escape racial segregation. -
Brown vs. Board of Education
The Brown vs. Board of Education case made it so that school segregation was banned. -
Rosa Parks
Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat on a bus, which would later cause the Montgomery Bus Boycott. -
Dr. Martin Luther King
The Montgomery Bus Boycott was started because of Rosa Parks refusing to give up her seat on the bus. Martin Luther King became the leader for the boycott and negotiated with leaders to end segregation on public transportation. -
"I Have a Dream"
Dr. Martin Luther King gave his famous "I Have a Dream" speech. -
Civil Rights Act of 1964
The Civil Rights Act focused had 11 different titles including voting, public accommodations, public facilities, school desegregation and more. This Civil Rights Act ended racial discrimination.
