    On this day Japan enetered the military alliance known as "Axis". They seeked to curb Japanese aggresion and force a withdrawal of Japanese forces from China. All this was the cause of Japan being power hungry. Some effects where that the U.S. imposed economic sanction on Japan and Japan attacked the U.S. and British to seize resources of South Asia.     A German term for “lightning war,” blitzkrieg is a military tactic designed to create disorganization among enemy forces through the use of mobile forces and locally concentrated firepower. Its successful execution results in short military campaigns, which preserves human lives and limits the expenditure of artillery. German forces tried out the blitzkrieg in Poland in 1939 before successfully employing the tactic with invasions of Belgium, the Netherlands and France in 1940.

    Germany Started WWII by invading Poland. Poland was defeated by Germans and Soviet forces. Poland was also patitioned between Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union. This all happpened because Hitler's government envisioned a vast, new empire of "living space" in eastern Europe. German dominance in Europe would require war. Some effect were the France and Britain responded by declaring war on Germany on September 3 and Poland was patitioned by Nazi Germany and Soviet Union. Source: WWII in Europe

    During world war ll operation barbarossa was the code name for Nazi, Germany's invasion of the soviet union. Adolf Hitler launched his armies eastward in a massive invasion of the soviet union: three great army groups with over three million German soldiers, 150 divisions, and three thousand tanks smashed across the frontier into soviet territory.

    On December 7, 1941 the Japanese launched a surprise attack on the US Naval Base Pearl Harbor in Hawaii, using bombers, torpedo bombers and midget submarines. On December 8, President Franklin D. Roosevelt delivered a speech, also known as the “Infamy Speech” to the American citizens, informing them that this happened while the US was in the midst of talks to keep peace. That same day, America entered into World War II.

    The Wannsee Conference was a meeting of 15 high ranking Nazis and German government officials in the Berlin suburb know as Wannsee. In this conference, they discussed and coordinated the implementaion of the "Final Solution to the Jewish Question". This solution being the extermination of the Jewish race from all of Europe, during the conference they talked about the new policies to they're proposition and how they planned on going about this genocide.

    British bombers raided Hamburg, Germany, on the night of July 24, 1943 in response to the deaths of 167 civilians from the German bombings in that same month. In just a few hours the British aircrafts dropped 2,300 tons of incendiary bombs on the city, while Americans continued to bomb it during the day. These attacks from Britain continued through November of that year, and in total there were 9,000 tons of bombs dropped, more than 30,000 people dead, and over 280,000 buildings destroyed.

    D-Day was a massive military operation. Over 150,000 soldier landed in France. On September 11, 1944, the U.S troops crossed into Germany, a month later Soviet troops crossed the eastern border. Germans launched a counterattack in Belgium and northen France, it was unsuccesful. Allied air forces attacked Nazi indusstrial plants (gas chambers).

    The Battle of Bulge war was a major German offensive campaign launched through the densely forested Ardennes region of Wallonia in Belgium, france, and luxemburg on the western front toward the end of world war ll in Europe. In december during the year 1944, Adolph Hitler attempted to split the Allied armies in north west Europe by means of a surprise blitzkrieg thrust through the Ardennes to Antwerp. American units fought desperate battles to stem the German advance at st.-vith Elsenborn Ridge.

    Operation Thunderclap was a plan to bomb the eastern-most cities of Germany to disrupt the transport infrastructure behind what was becoming the Eastern front. This would've hurt Germany a lot because it's population would be hurt.

    On February 19,1945 Americans soldiers make their first strike on the Japanese Home Island at Iwo Jima A merican amphilibious invasion of Iwo Jima during World War ll sleemed from the need in the Japanese coast. Iwo Jima was detended by 23,000 Japanese army and navy troops, that fought from the network of caves tunnels and underground installations. The marines wiped out the defending forces after a month of fighting, and the battle earned a place in Amerincan lore with the publication.

    On April 1, 1945 Allied forces inovade the island of Okinawa and engage the Japanese in the bloodiest battle of the Pacific Ocean. Tenth army againts 130,000 soldiers of the Japanese Thirty second Army. By the end of the 82 day campain, Japan had lost more than 77,000 soldiers and the Allies had sufferedmore than 65,000 casualties induding 14,000 dead. Japanese also sent their last big battleship the "Yomato". The Japanese expended 2,800 aircraft, plus a battleship and, a light cruiser.

Us president Harry S Truman declared the day as victory over Japan day, at a white house press conference the president announced that Japanese government had agreed to comply in full with the Potsdam declaration demanding the unconditional surrend of Japan .
