Four days later, when it was time to preach the Election Sermon, Dimmesdale confessed his adultery with Hester because his death is coming. He chose to die in a triumphant shame than carrying this burden with him to his grave. -
After many years, Hester died and was buried beside Dimmesdale's grave.
