He is questioned in his own hospital room by Cleveland detectives. Sam says he is innocent -
Did you have an affair?
Sam voluntarily went to the sarrif's head quaters to answer some questions. They asked him if he had an affair with Susan Hayes. He said "no we're good friends." -
Cleveland Press is being to impatient
"WHY NO INQUEST? DO IT NOW, DR. GERBER!" Later that day Cornoer Gerber annouces that he is doing a inquest and will start the next day. -
the inquest begins!
it's a three day inquest at the the Bay Village school gymnasium. -

Susan Hayes does amdits that her and Sam had an affair -

at 10:30 in the evening police arrested Sam at his parents house. -

The police keeps asking Sam questions for thirteen more hours. He still refuses to admit that he is guilty -

He gets a $50,000 dollar bail and is set free -
first degree murder
he is rearrested cause he is charged with first degree murder -

he decribes what had happen on that night when he encountered the guy who killed his wife -
now he is charged with 2nd degree muder
They are saying that he is charged with second degree muder because his blood was in the crime sceen and the dog never barked. It wouldve barked if there was an introuder in the house at that night -

Sam Sheppard is transfered to a secured prison somewere near Columbus. A swimmer who lives next to the Sheppard home finds a dented flashlight in shallow water in Lake Erie. -
