Germany attacked Poland. This event angerered many different countries. Britian, France, and Canada all declared war on Germany after HItler ignored the ultimatum sent by the British. World War II had begun which would change Europe for the rest of its existence. -
Phoney War and Blitzkrieg Again

Germany attacked Denmark, Norway, Holland, and Belgium. The British and French surrendered after Germany attemped to take over Germany. 338,000 British and French troops were evacuated to England after they were cornered at Dunkirk. France had been taken over by Germany, this seemed to give Germany the upper hand in the war. -
Invasion and Defeat in the USSR
Hitler was supreme in Europe and had turned his focus to the USSR. He was very successful at first. Kiev had been captured, Leningrad was under seige and Moscow was now within reach. The soviets experienced devastating loses, one million soviet prisoners were taken and thousands were wounded. USSR withstood the Germans attack agaisnt them and made the German army surrender in 1943, this was a turning point in the war because this was the first major defeat Germany had experienced. -
Pearl Harbor
Japanese dive bombers attacked U.S.A. army and naval bases in Pearl Harbor, killing 3700 Americans. 18 U.S.A. battleships were destroyed, and many U.S.A. aircrafts were also destroyed, this had a major economic impact on the U.S.A. U.S.A. then declared war on Japan, Germany and Italy declared war on U.S.A. (because they were allies with Japan) Great Britian, U.S.A. and Russia had allied together to destroy Nazi Germany, a major conflict had begun. -
Japanese Conquests

Japan had taken over large amounts of land, they had cut China's road to Burma, threatened to invade India and Ceylon and bombed northern Australia and occupied the Aleutain islands (By Alaska). Japan now had to defend the vast land that they had conquered, which would be a very difficult task. -

To prevent a major allied assault on the continent, Hitler had transformed the occupied countries in the west into a European fortress.He also forced labour gangs to build a wall along the vunerable French and Beligian coastlines. Canadians wanted to test the strength of the defences so they attacked They experiences huge loses, 900 soldiers were killed and 1300 others taken prisoner. -
Soviet Success
The speed of the Soviets advance had been spectacular, all the territory originally conquered by Hitler was recaptured by the Soviets, which meant all the conquered countries could start rebiulding again. Most of Germany was occupied when Hitler shot himself because he knew that they had lost. Hitlers Germany had been defeated, victory had come for the allies. -
Atomic Warfare

The japanese experienced huge economic impacts when two of their largest cities (Hiroshima and Nagasaki) were completely destroyed by two seperate atomic bombings. This event ended World War II, which was a huge relief to all countries involved. There has been many conflicts since then and countries have manged to steer away from atomic warfare because they are aware of the devastation it can cause.
