    The war between the French and British aided by different Indian tribes. Forming part of The North Americas seven years' war. Ended with the Treaty of Paris in 1763.

  • The Sugar Act

    An act of putting taxes on foreign sugar and an increase on coffee, indigo, and some types of wines. Also banned some importable items.
  • The Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act
    The official first tax on colonists. In November, every document needed a stamp or seal which cost money. American colonists believed that they shouldn't have had to pay for something that had been free in the past. They immediatly responded with force, such as the Stamp act Congress.

    The British, Once finding out about the congress, took away the act in March of 1766, bypassed another act called the Declaratory Act, stating that Great Britain was dominant to the American colonies. Therefore, the sons of liberty amd a model and of the Continental Congress were formed in response to the act.

    Townshend Act
    In 1767, a series of laws for Charles Townshend, who was a British Chancellor. The laws established taxes on glass, lead, paints, paper, and tea. Colonists acted the same as when the Sugar and Stamp act had been placed. Britain took away all taxes except for on one kind of tea, As a precautionary, Great Britain sent in more troops because of the sometimes violent colonists.

    Five American colonists wer eshot by the British troops. March 5, 1770, one african-american was shot and killed. This massacre opened eyes to the Americans and the distrust grew towards the British and thier military presence.

    Colonists, being the sons of liberty, outraged by the tax of tea, began to overrule British ships and threw over three hundred and forty two crates full of British tea into Bosotn HAbror in Decmeber of 1773. Tea evenatually was boycotted in multiple colonies.

    Out of thirteen colonies, two groups of people came together to elaborate on Liberty.the First Continental Congress was made up fifty six members from twelve of the thirteen colonies, Once together secretly, they acted on the Intolerable Act.

    On April 19, 1775, the first shots had been fired in the battle of Lexington and Concord. British troops chose to make thier way to Concord, where this was an arms dept, meaning tons of weaponry was held there by the American troops. The Americans evantually were forced to withdraw.

    In 1775, the second continental congress met after the revolutionary was had started. The congress created the continental army and as commander in chief, George Washington led. Throughout the summer the congress met and the Declaration of Independence, the articles of Confederation, and the Marine Corps had been organized.

Also fighting in the French and Indian on the British side, as well as being a triumphant commander in the revolutionary war for the American side. Being named president and serving two terms of the consitutional convention, two new political parties had been formed, The federalists and the democratic-republicans.

    Battle of Bunker Hill
    General William Howe of the British forces and Colonel William Prescott of the American forces had a two day engagement. The British attacked Breeds hill which was under the Americans had been occupying it on June 16, 1775. Britain was victorious but lost many men. Americans fired but retreated quickly to conserve ammunition. the battle had been fought on Breeds hill but remains to be named the Battle of Bunker Hill.

    Thomas Paines "Common Sense" published
    Thomas Paine was a patriot and an American soldier who like to write. He wrote pamphlets that ended up inflaming the American population and assisted the revolutionary cause. His pamphlets were called Common Sense adn The Crisis.

    The british was forced was to evacuate Boston after General George Washington successfully placed his fortifications and cannons on Dorchester hieghts, which looke dover south of Boston

    Richard Henry Lee proposes Independence
    Was from Virginia and proposed to postpone voting until the support for the declaration of independence was consolidated.

    Declaration of Independence adopted
    Was written by Mr. Thomas Jefferson and was declared by the continental Congress to be in full effect on July 4th, 1776. Also known as independence day.
