    Established federal government based on an already standing succession of people. These people formed a congress but the congress was actually governed by the communist party.

    Stalins five year plans begun once he got power over russia. Which caused the country to industrialize quickly because of high quotas they had to meet. They also took control of farms and made them into collective farms.
  • Kulaks were forced off their land

    Kulaks were forced off their land

    There was a degree passed in February of 1930 that forced millions of kulaks off thier land because they wanted it for farming. A lot were a lot killed by the authorities.

    There was a huge war between the Soviet Union and Germany, and at first Germany got pretty far into Soviet territory. That was until the Soviets won the battle of Stalingrad and the Germans started to retreat. It ended in a win for the Soviet Union.

    Stalin’s wrong doings were exposed to the pubic and a lot of people did not like him afterward. A huge power struggle came over russia because a lot of different people wanted to come to power.

    This pact was made in defense to NATO. It was basically to secure the alliance between the Soviets and other places in Central Europe. It later helped the Soviets spread communism and hold power over a lot of Europe.

    He was kicked out after he was seen as the reason for a lot of setbacks, like the Cuban missile crisis. Led to a perios of collective leadership over russia.

  • Five year plan of the 1970s

    The want of this five year plan were unmet and it was very bad to the soviet unions economy. Unlike in the past, the five year plans targets were meetable and yet they still didn’t do that.

  • Coup attempted by communists

    The coup was an attempt to save the communist party but it aided with its end. It was put to an end quickly, yeltsin helped.
  • Yeltsin was elected president

    Yeltsin was elected president

    This was big because he would be Russias first elected president. He gave Russian laws superiority over soviet laws.

  • The Soviet Union broke up

    Yeltsin was leader of russia. This was finalized by the passing of a briefcase from Gorbachev with codes to launch Soviet nukes.
