    This war was a military conflict in which Japan wanted and forced Russia to stop its expansionist policy in East Asia and Japan won this war which humiliated the Tsarist regime

    Russian Revolution

    This revolution happened because the everyone wanted a different government. People wanted to transform the Russian Government into the constitutional monarchy. This revolution also led to so many things that happened in Russia like the Russo-Japanese War, the Bloody Sunday and much more.

    First World War

    The First World War (WW1) was the most horrific war in the history. During the war Germany, Bulgaria, Austria-Hungary and Ottoman Empire were the Central Powers who fought against Great Britain, France, Russia, Italy, Japan, Canada and the United States who were the Allied Powers. The Allied Powers won and the U.S. demonstrates its military power and achieved new place in the world.

    Russian Civil War

    Civil War happened because many groups were formed in Russia that opposed Lenin's Bolsheviks. These groups were of monarchists, militarists and some foreign nations (for short time). Russian Civil War was fought between the Bolsheviks and the White Army to assume control of Russia.
  • Influenza pandemic

    The most severe pandemic in the history which spread worldwide during 1918. It was caused by H1N1 virus. It originated in Kansas but spreads globally.
  • Treaty of Versailles

    Treaty of Versailles was signed on June 28, 1919 by Germany and Allied Nations. Paris Peace Conference led to Treaty of Versailles. Germany lost 13.5%of its territory and all overseas colonies. The terms on treaty required Germany to pay the financial reparations, lose territory, and give up all of its overseas colonies. Overall the treaty required for Germany and other Central Powers to take all the blame for WW1.

    The Great Depression

    This was the period where there was economic depression worldwide. It started after the stock market crash in the United States which made many people panic and also wiped off millions of investors. It didn't only affect the U.S. but worldwide.

    Greek Civil War

    When Greek Civil War happened it threatened the balance in Europe. In the war the US supported the Kingdom of Greece and USSR supported the Greek Communists. The Soviet influence was expanded in the Middle East by Truman because he feared that "the loss of Greek to communism would threaten the stability of Turkey" (week 4, video 1) In the war the defeat was of the Communists but there was a lot growth of the arms race.
  • India & Pakistan 1947

    In 1947 before independence Britain partitioned India. Hindus and Muslims did were not able to unitedly agree on the new Indian Government. After Pakistan got separated from India there were so many wars over disputed Jammu and Kashmir territories. After the partition there were lot of fights between Hindus and Muslims and seeing this Mahatma Gandhi encourages to unite Hindus and Muslims in the aftermath of Indian independence.
  • Marshall Plan

    It was a plan where the US provided with aid to the Western Europe because of the havoc that World War 2 had in Western Europe. The economic aid provided to Europe for rebuilding was over $13 billion.
  • Berlin Airlift

    Berlin Airlift was the first conflict of the Cold War. The Soviets blocked the transportation and the power to West Berlin. Truman sets up an airlift of supplies to West Berlin by passing the Soviet blockade to avoid armed conflict.
  • Stalin Plan for Transformation of Nature

    There was so many changes that Stalin brought to the nature. There was a huge plan for the development and improvement of land and agriculture in the Soviet Union. he wanted to transform the nature into the rich agriculture enterprises. But this led to long term environmental damage in Central Asia.

    Korean War

    The Korean War was between the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (North Korea) and the Republic of Korea (South Korea). There was an attack that was leaded by Kim Il-Sung with the secret support of Stalin in June 1950. UN and US send support to South Korea and China sends support to North Korea. During this war at least 2.5 billion people lost their lives.

    Algerian War of Independence

    the two events were there which caused the Algerian War of Independence, one was when the French forcefully envisioned the Algeria and the second was the rise of the nationalist ideologists.
  • Hungarian Revolt

    People in Hungary started to protest for the basic freedom like freedom to vote, freedom of speech and more. Also they were out of fuel and the people were starving and cold so the people went against the government.
  • Bloody Sunday

    It was a very violent day when British soldiers opened fire killing many unarmed civilians during their protest march in Bogside area of Derry in Northern Ireland.
