  • Treaty of Paris

    Signed by Great Britain, France, Portugal and Spain after Britains victory over France in the seven years war. The signing of this treaty not only formally ended the seven years war but marked an era of dominance in Europe for Britain.
  • Proclomation of 1763

    This losed of colonial expansion to the west. The colonists were not happy and would soon rebel because of this and other reasons.
  • Stamp Act

    The purpose of this was that whatever you bought that had a stamp you had to pay taxes to the king even though he was across the sea. Pretty much everything had a stamp on it.
  • Quartering Act

    This allowed British soldiers to stay in colonists homes and the colonists had to feed them as well as give them beds. The king did not want to have to pay for the soldiers quarters so he made the colnists do it.
  • Townshend Acts

    Passed by the British and named after Charles Townshend. It has five parts: the revenue act of 1767, the indemnity act, the commisioners of customs act, the vice admiralty court act and the ney york restraining act.
  • Boston Massacre

    This was a strret fight that happened between a group of patriots who were throwing things like snowballs sticks and stones at some redcoats. The redcoats fired back and eventually killed 5 of the mob.
  • Boston Tea Party

    The colonists anger had been building and building because of all these acts. But two were still being collected one on sugar and one on tea. A group of patriots dressed as native americans jumped onto an east india company boat and dumped all the tea overboard to rebel against the taxes.

    Samuel Adams founded the sons of liberty. It was a group of patriots who are most famous for the undertaking of the boston tea party. They also protested every intolerable act and sam adams signed the decloration of independence.
  • Intolerable Acts

    Helping cause the American Revolution these acts were basically all the laws and rules that the british forced upon the colonies. Ex. Quartering Act, Townshend Act and the Boston Harbor act.
  • 1st Continental Congress

    It was a congress elected by the people to try to show an authority to England. They all had different opinions though. Some wanted to make a resolve with england others wanted to rebel.

    Paul Revere did not come from the same background as other patriots. He was a silversmith with humbler means but how he felt about Britain was anything but. His famous midnight ride warning the colonists of the approaching redcoats was one of the most revolutionary acts of his. He was also an illustrator and drew a very famous picture of the Boston massacre.
  • Lexington and Concord

    These battles were the first military engagements of the American Revolutionary War. Around 700 soldiers were told to secretly go and burn all of the colonists military supplies to prevent a revolution.

    Benedict Arnold was a man who fought for the americans in the revolutionary war but then defected to the british. While he was a general in the american army he took control of two forts and planned to surrender them to the british. He was atraitor to the colonists.

    He was much more than the commander and cheif even at that time, he was the backbone to the colonists and kept from collapsing. His calm, determined and unswerving sense of patriotism really helped the colonists.

    On this day Major General Nathaneal Green and 1,000 patriots tried to sieze the village of ninety six. After failing to sieze it they sieged upon it which lasted until june 18th making it the longest in the american revolutionary war.

    She was the wife of John Adams- the first vice president and second president and mother to john quincy adams- the sixth president. She is now designated as the first second lady and the second first lady.
  • Loyalists captured

    Loyalists captured
    col. Thompson with 1,500 militia capture loyalists at Great Canebrake SC. The loyalists were underooted and their general barely escaped. They managed to capture some other leaders though, like Thomas Fletchall.

    The main reason of this was to explain to the foreign nations why the colonies seperated themselves from Great Britain. The people who wrote this included Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, Benjamin Franklin.

    In 1776 lord cornwallis captured fort lee from nathanael green.Cornwallis brought more than 4,000 british soldiers from across the hudson river and six miles away to capture it. When thay got there they found no oposition, they actually found 50 cannons!

    hessians were the german auxilaries under the british crown during the 18th century. About thirty thousand german soldiers served in the thirteen colonies during the american revolutionary war. In 1776 th ehessians first arrived in north america.

    T was a siege led by George Washington along with the french upon the british led by lord cornwallis. Cornwallis eventually surrendered to the combined forces of washington and the french.

    This ended the American Revolutionary war between Great Britain and the United States. France, Spain and the Dutch had different agreements.
