  • Treaty of Paris

    TheTreaty of Paris was the official end of the Seven Year War. Because of the treaty, France lost all of their territory in the mainland of North America. Some of the area was obtained by the British and others by the Spanish. Though the treaty gave the British reason to celebrate, the threat of the french made the coloniost feel uneasy.
  • Proclaimation of 1763

    The Proclaimation of 1763 was issued by the British Board of Trade under the power of King George III. The board proclaimed war with the initial focus to calm the Indians of their fear that the colonist would overrun their land as they moved westward. Many colonists believed that this proclaimation was issued to move them to the Atlantic Seaboard where the colonist would be easier to keep track of and control.
  • Quartering Act

    The Quartering Act made it so that the colonists in North America had to accomadate any of the British Soldiers there. The Colonist would have to feed them, give them fresh food and water, a place to sleep, and availability to bathe. The Quartering Act created much tension between the British and the colonists, and this tension would later power the revolutionary war. This was important becuase though it was a small cause, it was still a cause of the war.
  • Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act was when the British first proclaimed that stamps, legal documents, news papaers, ect.., would be required to have taxes. This created tension between the two places nad especially made the colonists mad. This was one of the first direct taxes called on for the colonists by the British.
  • The Townshed Act

    The Townshed Act was a series of taxes put on regular day things such as glass, lead, paint, papers, and teas. These taxes were named after Charles Townshed, who proposed this. The amount of taxes that were piling up on the colonists were not only making them angry, but also making them poor.

    Benedict Arnold
    Benedict Arnold was a general at the time of the Revolutionary War. He had a plan during the war which was to obtain command at a fort then surrender to the British. When his plan was exposed he was defected to the British Army.
  • Thomas Paine

    Thomas Paine
    Thomas Paine was another activist in leading the Revolutionary War. At the beginning of the war he wrote a couple of pamphlets inspiring colonists to declare war on Britian and fight for their independence. He was important to the war becuase he inspired the colonists to fight for freedom.

    Samuel Adams
    Sam Adams was a very important person in the Revolutionary War. He is one of Americas founding fathers and also was a leader in the revolution against the British. He was an American Statesman and a Political Philosopher.
  • The Boston Massacre

    The Boston Massacre was a horrific event that happened during the war. In Boston, a group of British Soldier murders five civilian people and badly injured six others. The British army had been settled in Boston for two years, protected crown-ordered colonial officials. The Colonists got so fed up with them that they created a mob around the soldiers and verbally harassed them. The Soldiers shot at the colonists.

    The Sons of Liberty
    The Sons of Liberty were a group of American Colonists that fought against the British Rule and government during the revolution and are most famous for their Boston Tea Party act. They did this in response to the Tea Act which later lead to the Intolerable Acts. They are important to the revolution becuase they fought agains the British's acts and inspired other colonists to do the same.

    John Adams
    John Adams was the second president of the United States and earlier served as the vice president. During his lifetime he often promoted republicism and was another founding father of the United States. He was famous for being opposed to slavery, as never buying a slave, and working with others in leading the revolution against Britain.

    Abigail Adams
    Abigail Adams was the wife to John Adams, the vice president to George Washington and the second president of the United States. She was the mother to John Quincy Adams. Both her husband and son were important in the historty of America, but more so her husband in the Revolutionary War.

    The Patriots
    The patriots were citizens of America who were opposed to the British Empire and fought agains them, physically and other wise. They were important to the war becuase without them, there would be no enemy to the British and they wouldn't have proclaimed their freedom from the British empire.
  • The Loyalists

    The Loyalists
    The loyalists were citizens of the American colonies during the Revolutionary War that remained loyal to the Great Britian Empire. They were nick-named toyies, royalists, or kingsmen at the time which although don't sound so bad now, were huge insults in colonial America. When the British lost the Revolution, most of the loyalists fled to areas of Great Britian, British areas in the colonies, and mostly to Florida.
  • The Boston Tea Party

    The Boston Tea Party was originally refered to as the "Destruction of Tea in Boston". This outbreak was when around seventy Bostonians boarded a East Indian Company Cargo ship disguised as nativ Americans. Their main goal was to destroy the cargo on the ship in act of difiance against the British Rule. They opened the hatches on the ship and threw all the tea over board into the ocean.
  • First Continetnal Congress

    The first Continental Congress was a meeting of twelve colonies as Georgia was not present early in the revolutionary war. The meeting took palce at Carpenters Hall in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
  • Intolerable Acts

    The Intolerable Acts was a nick name given from the colonists to a series of laws that the British passed relating to Massachusetts after the Boston Tea Party. This caused an outbreak in the thirteen colonies against the British Empire.
  • Battles of Lexington and Concord

    The Battles of Lexington and Concord were very important in the Revolutionary War. This is because they were the first battles of the war between the colonists and the british.
  • Pual Revere

    Pual Revere
    Pual Revere was born in December 24 in 1734. He is most famous for alerting the colonists of the approaching British attack of Lexington and Concord. He was a blacksmith at the time however his yelling, "the redcoats are coming!" made him famous through out American History.
  • George Washington

    George Washington
    George Washington was the first president of the United States of America and is commonly referred to as the "father of our country" for his loyalty to the colonists and America. During the battles of Lexington and Condord, Washington was promoted to commander and chief of the continental army. He was important to the war becuase he helped the army fight wisely and well against the British and also became our first president.
  • Declaration of Independence

    On July forth, 1776, the Declaration of Independence was made and officially seperated the thirteen American colonies from the British Empire, creating a holiday that Americans have celebrated ever sense. The Declaration stated that the colonist were no longer under the rule of the king or parlament in Britain and formally explained their devision. This was important to the war because it enraged the British, creating an enemy for the colonists.

    The Hessians were soldiers who fought in the British Army that were of German blood. They fought alongside the British in the Revolutionary War and later lived their lives in the British Empire.
  • The Battle of Saratoga

    The Battle of Saratoga took place nine miles south of Saratoga New York. This battle is very important to the Revolutionary War as it is known as the turning point for the British and the colonists. It was a turning point becuase of the colonists victory convinced the French to be their ally, which helped the colonists win the war.
  • Martha Washington

    Martha Washington was the wife of George Washington, the first president of the United States, making her the first Lady. During her time, she was called "Lady Washington", referring to her second husband George Washington.
  • The Battle of Yorktown

    The Battle of Yorktown began of September 28th and ended on October 19th. The battle took place in Yorktown and was the last major battle of the revolutionary war. The American Troops were led by George Washington as they charged to fight. Some of the French soldiers fought alongside their colonist allies to fight the British. This event was important becuase it was the last major fight in the bloody revolutionary war.

    The Lord Cornwallis was a general during the Revolutionary War for independence from Britain. He is significant to the war becuase he had surrendered to the American colonists in 1781 at the seige of Yorktown.
  • Thomas Jefferson

    Thomas Jefferson
    Thomas Jefferson was an United States founding father and was a main author of the Declaration of Independence. He was the third presidents of the Untied States and served in Continental Congress. He was also the Secretary of State, serving under George Washington in the time of his presidency. Jefferson was important to the war because he was an influence on the colonists.

    The Treaty of Paris was the official ending of the Revolutionary War with the colonists and their allies such as the French against the British. The Treaty was signed of September third of seventeen eighty three.
