sugar act

Apr 5, 1764

This act put a tax on sugar half the amount of the earlier molasses act, but enforced the tax a lot more forcing us to pay.

Stamp act of 1765

May 1, 1765

This is an act that Britain made that required the colonists to pay for an official tax on stamps or seal when they bought paper items.

Boston Massacre

Mar 5, 1770

The Boston Massacre was when British soldiers shot and killed 5 civilians. This was known as "the incedent on King street". 6 people were also injured in this event.

tea act

May 10, 1773

The tea act was an act by Parliment to put a tax on tea. the colonists didn't like this tax and this eventually led to the boston tea party.

Boston tea party

Dec 16, 1773

The Boston tea party is when we got our revenge for the Parliments taxes. Some Americans dressed up as indians and went on a British ship and threw the tea into the harbor.

quartering act

Jun 2, 1774

This act was made after the boston tea party as a reaction and it meant that british soldiers were allowed to stay in American citizens homes.

Battle of Lexington and Concord

Apr 19, 1775

This was the first Militia engagement of the Revoloutionary war. The British had 700 people on their side and we had 500 militia and minutemen. we lost the battle of Lexington and Concord

Battle of Bunker hill

The Battle of Bunker hill was an interesting battle. We were originally suposed to have the battle on bunker hill but we ended up having it on breeds hill. the British forced up the hill only 3 times before we ran out of supplys and surrendered.

Battle of Quebec

Dec 31, 1775

This battle was the first big defeat for the Americans, but one of their generals were killed, Benedict Arnold (the traitor) was wounded and over 400 men were taken prisoner.

Battle of Trenton

Dec 25, 1776

The Battle of Trenton was fought on Christmas after General Washington led his troops to temporary safety with general Cornwallis close on his side.

battle of saratoga

Oct 9, 1777

This battle was were we surrounded the British and we beat them with not many casualtys. This was a HUGE turnaround in the war and one of the reasons we won.

Battle of Yorktown

Oct 19, 1781

This battle was the last major battle of the revoloution. We won this battle and because of this battle we won the war. after this all there was, were a few small battles in the end of the war.
