    Socrates created the Socratic Method. Plato said that "you can't kill an idea" and came up with the base for idealism.

    He wanted everyone to learn, and promoted the use of education for career preparation. He also said that children want to learn. He thought that you should start with the easier stuff and work to the hard things, and he said that you should encourage not punish.
  • Johann Heinrich Pestalozzi

    Johann Pestalozzi is considered to be the father of modern education. He believed that you should have hands on learning.
  • Charles Sanders Peirce

    He came with the idea of Pragmatism. He said that "Being able to see the success of a practical application reveals the truth behind theories and beliefs." He also influenced John Dewey
  • Smith and Hughes

    They created the Smith Hughes Act that helped to establish funding for vocational classes.
  • Howard Gardner

    He believes that everyone has seven different languages, and that they do not use all of them they only use a few of them. He also claims that it is rare that the seven intelligences operate independently.

    He was influenced by Charles Sanders Peirce. He believed in teaching by doing, and that it should be relevant to a student's life. He also believed that hands on learning reinforces the idea of "learning by doing", and that there wasn't just one way to solve a problem, he encouraged the creativity of his students.
