    The Amercian Civil War is also known as the War between the states. The Civil War was fought from 1861 to 1865. It ended when the Confederate Army surrendered to the Union at Appomattox Court House on April 9, 1861.

    The Freedmen's Bureau helped aid distressed Freedmen. Freedmen are former slaves that were freed. The Bureau helped the Freedmen by giving them food, clothes, jobs, health care, and even helped them communicate with their families.

    Abraham Lincoln was assassinated by John Wilkes Booth while he waas watching a play at Ford's Theatre. Lincoln was shot and paralyzed but later died.He was killed five days after the Confederacy surrendered to the Union.
