    At Fords Theatre,John Wilkes booth shot Abraham Lincoln while he attended a play .Booth fled and was later caught and killed.Lincoln was the first us president to be assassinated.

    The election of Rutherford B. Hayes was the official end of Reconstruction in the south. He was tied with Samuel Tilden for eletoral votes , but made a deal with the remaining southern states to end the reconstrution. This was called the Compromise of 1877
