  • Black Codes

    Black Codes
    These are laws that are designed to help control newly freed African Americans. Theses laws told people what they can and could not do. These laws also made it very easy for white people to take advantage of afican americans. These laws were very unfair and not right.
  • Civil Rights act of 1866

    Civil Rights act of 1866
    To get rid of the Black Codes, Republicans pushed the civil rights act of 1866 through congress. This law gave the affican americans rights. By doing this the fedral goverment got a lot of citizenship from the afican americans. This law was then vetoed and changed peoples lives.
  • Reconstruction Acts (First and Second)

    The second Reconstruction Act added on to the first Reconstruction Act. The First act left the southern states confused by who had the role of legislation. The second act then answered that problem, it showed that millitary commanders had the responsibilty to cast in the votes. The second also changed details from the first.
  • 14th Amendment

    14th Amendment
    The 14th amendment was another way of congress trying to end rasium. Since the 13th amendment ended slavery the fourteenth amendmennt took a huge step by stating and quote. The quote stated that everyone is equal and should have equal rights.
  • 15th Admendment

    15th Admendment
    The Fifthteenth Admendment granted Afican Americans men to vote. Now that the Afican Americans were feed this allowed them to fend for themseleves. Which then was the beginning of equality for them all.
