Black Codes
It 's a law that helped control the new freed slaves. And some laws were illegal for African Americans to rent their own farm. Some made it easy for whites to take over African American workers. Some even allowed people to fine or arrest African Africans who didn't have jobs. -
Civil Rights Act of 1866
It protected the citizenship to African Americans. It meant that citizens could not later on be taken, because of passing the law.
If a male adult citizen was stopped by the state from voting, the state could lose representation of Congress. -
14th Amendment
A law was made to protect the slaves. It helped have the right to protect themselves. And it helped them not get beaten or anything. -
Reconstruction Acts one and two
R1:Some states had to form a new governent. R2: Made the army register voters in each district. It was to help fix state constitutonal conventions and a new state government. -
15th Amendment
Most of the states in the south rejoined the Union. Also some people were hoping that that the reconstruction was over. Some africans voted for Grant, he won.
States and federal governments could not deny the right to vote to any male citizen. They believed they accompished giving afriacans the right to beable to vote. Also allowed them to have the right to protect themselves.
