    Legislatures in the south passed laws that were called blck codes. They helped control the newly freed africans.These laws made it easy for whites to have control the africans, and that wasnt fair.

    Civil rights act
    Radical republicans pusshed the civil rights act through congress. It gave federal government power to help the africans. It also let them be american citizens.
  • Reconstruction acts

    This law made states form new governments. The other act empowered the army to register voters, to help orginize th state. by 1868 almost all the states were under the union again.
  • 14th Amendment

    14th Amendment
    This amendment had ended slavery. It protect the citizenship to african americans. It also guarrented that the africans citizenship cant be taken away.
  • 15th Amendment

    15th Amendment
    This amendment meant that the sate could not deny any man t vote. All the states radified this in 1870. They belived the congress gave any man the right to vote
