Psychology 150 Timeline

  • Initiative vs. Guilt

    During play Nathan who is 4 years old decided he wanted to be the captain of ship! He was so excited that he opened the gate and let a few of his classmates out with him so they can explore the "island". The teachers soon interviened and told his mother. When they arived home that evening out of fear his mother scolds him and sends him to his room. While crying Nathan says he never wants to be the leader again! Third stage of Erikson's Psychosocial stages. Nathan is now scared to be the leader.
  • Industry (competence) vs. Inferiority

    Nathan starts to play baseball and loves it! He finds out that he's really good at it. His dad is the coach and his mom is the team mom. They cheer and support him every practice and game. This is the 4th stage of Erikson's Psychosocial stages. His parents are being supportive and this is allowing him to develop a sense of compentancy.
  • Identity vs. Role Confusion

    At the age of 18 Nathan suffers an injury that ends his baseball career. He struggles to find another passion. His parents said they will support him no matter what but it was up to him to figure out who he was. One day while at the Doctors office he observes how his Dr. is inspecting Nathan's injury. From that day on Nathan knows he wants to be a Dr and will work ahard to acheive that goal. This is the 5th stage.
  • Intimacy vs. Isolation

    Nathan finally finishes school and is interning at a very prestigeous hospital. Nathan meets another intern and quickly develops a crush. Nathan has always focused on school and hasnt had much time for a relationship. Nathan decides he wants to take the plunge and asks her out. He has been with her ever since and is happily married. This is the 6th stage of Erikson's stages. He has successfully completed this stage and is completely capable of being in a committed relationship.
