The Sherman Anti-Trust Act prohibited the restriction of trade and or commerce through contacts, conspiracies and combinations. -
These laws required that all food and drugs that were meant for human consumption had to pass strict testing to make sure they were clean and safe, and also required certified officials to inspect if animals were healthy before they were killed. -
The 16th amendment stopped federal taxes from being based on state population. -
The 17th amendment made it so that senators were elected by popular vote, and that the only time senators were elected was when the state requires that the governor pick someone to fill the vacancy until the next election for the senate. -
The 18th amendment banned the manufacturer’s sale, and the distribution of intoxicating liquors. However, the 18th amendment wasn’t successful because so many factors of the economy and society relied on liquor, whether it was people’s jobs, sales, or the enjoyment of simply drinking. -
The 19th amendment gave women the right to vote.
