    Recruitment tent (0)

This is when people were recruited to be soldiers in the war. It's at 0 because this specific event didn't necessarily have a ¨bad¨ or ¨good¨ event during it.
  • Nellie McClung (+2)

    Nellie McClung (+2)

Nellie McClung expresses her strong disapproval towards war and towards her not being able to have a heard opinion because she's a woman. She expresses that ¨War is a crime committed by men and, therefore when enough people say it shall not be, it cannot be. this will not happen until women are allowed to say what they think of war. Up until the present time women have had nothing to say about war, except pay the price of war-this privilege has been theirs always.¨

    Frank Walker (-1)

In this source he is explaining how nervous he is on finding out if he has been accepted to serve in the war or not. He perceives this as an honor and also expresses that the unusual solitude has gotten to his, and the other soldiers' heads. Claiming to be strutting around and having something grand about it. He was nervous because he wanted so badly to be accepted which to me is somewhat heartbreaking. Thinking that in his mind, his worth was determined from this.
  • Sir Robert Borden (+1)

    Sir Robert Borden (+1)

Sir Robert Borden expresses his opinion by saying, ¨In the very name of the peace that we sought at any cost save that of dishonor, we have entered into this war¨. But he was neutral about it because he expressed how he saw it as one of Canada's duties and they couldn't stand by and do nothing about it. So he wasn't saying war was a good thing but he also wasn't saying it was bad, it was just a thing that was necessary in his mind.
  • Arthur Mignault (-2)

    Arthur Mignault (-2)

He didn't necessarily see war as a good thing but he donated $50,000 to fund war resources and in his words, called it a privilege to donate to fund the war. Which is the reason this is at -2 because the mindset of having the ¨Privilege¨ to be in, and donate to the war is not a good mindset.
