    Abraham Lincoln
    Abraham Lincoln was credited with holding the Union together and leading the North to victory durring the Civil War. His efforts led to the Emancipation of slaves. He was killed on April 14, 1865 by John Wilkes Booth.
  • Andrew Johnson

    Andrew Johnson
    Andrew Johnson tried to continue Lincolns idea of reconstruction. He wanted to give the south a chance to regain citizenship. He died of cholera on July 31, 1875.
  • Ulysses S. Grant

    Ulysses S. Grant
    Ulysses S. Grant was involved in reconstruction and his presidency ended the Nez Perce War. The Fifteenth Amendment was ratified durring his time in office. He died on July 23, 1885 due to cancer.

    Rutherford B. Hayes
    His accomplishments led to the creation of the Panama Cannal. He started his administration with the compromise of 1877 which got rid of military occupation in the south. He also restricted the immigration of chinese.

    James A. Garfield
    James A. Garfield was only in office for 6 months so he was not able to accomplish much. He allowed the investigation of the mail scandal creating the way for civil service reform. He was killed by Charles J. Guiteau.
  • Chester A. Arthur

    Chester A. Arthur
    He succeeded president Garfield after he was assasinated. He was responsible for the Pendelton Civil Service Act which had a positive outcome. He also created the Chinese Exclusion Act which later became a black mark in our history.
  • Grover Cleveland

    Grover Cleveland
    He was nominated by Democrats to run with Thomas Hendricks. The election was not about answering questions and fixing issues but more about harsh personal attacks on eachother. He narrowly won the election with 49% of the popular vote and 219 electoral votes.
  • Benjamin Harrison

    Benjamin Harrison
    Durring his time in office the Sherman Anti-Trust act was passed. He was president inbetween the two times that president Cleveland was in office. He died of pneumonia on March 13, 1901.

    While McKinley was in office the U.S. became a world colonial power. Durring his time in office Hawii was annexed which lead to the islands statehood. Mckinley led the Nation to victory in the Spanish-American war.
  • Theodore Roosevelt

    Theodore Roosevelt
    Theodore Roosevelt helped end the Russo-Japanese war and was awarded a Nobel peace prize. He used Anti-Trust laws to fight against corruption in industries such as oil and the railroad industry. He set aside 125 million acres of National forest for public protection.
