The very beginning for the fight for sufferage occured during the 1800's.

Religious qualifications were exterminated in 1810 and there hasnt been another since. Seems Thats a very good thing, not everyone has the same religious beliefs.

Wemon had been pushing for sufferage since the beginning (some any how) and were finally granted legally the right to vote in Wyoming alone in 1869. You go GIRLS!

The 15th amendment was made and placed in the constitution to protect colored (other races) peoples right to to vote (well, was supposed to anyways). Things such as poll taxes and literacy tests prevented the majority of them being able to vote even with the 15th Amendment.

The 19th amendment basically was the break women all over the United States were waiting for, SUFFERAGE...or there right to vote.

This point in history is when government started realizing that with only the 15th amendment colored people ( people of other races) werent recieving the full right to vote like promised in the constitution, and began making the change.

The 23rd amendment allowed the citizens of the district of Columbia the right to vote in the presidential electorate.

The 24th Amendment was, well exactly as seen above. The 24th Amendment eliminated from all polling places the requirement to pay a poll tax in order to be elidgable to vote.

The Voting Rights act of 1965 was basically the straight fact that there was racial equality in all pollbooths through out the country. There wasnt anything that impaired a colored man/womens right to vote from the average white man/women.

The 26th amendment allowed for any citizen of the United States the right to vote permiting they are of the age of 18. This amendment can not be hightened by any states because of the reason that if you're of age to die for your country, you should be able to vote for it.
