UI Police search for suspect During the early hours of November 18th during a routine traffic stop for an individual disrupting traffice, an UI police officer was strangled and thrown to the ground by a white male befor he fled on foot after refusing to show ID. UI police are asking for any tips on who the suspect may be and for any information to be called in.

Friday evening, photos and videos were released on the subject who chocked an Iowa City police officer in the early hours of Friday. Mega Bite, a local store where the suspect fled, captured surveillance video of him, shirtless and out of breath, just moments after he attacked the police officer. Local restaurants and businesses hope their customers can help with finding the suspect. The Dashcam that captured most of the fighting will also hopefully tip off a name for a suspect.

As many University of Iowa students head home for break, the UI police and Iowa City police continute to look for the assailant in Friday morning's attempted strangling of a police officer. Police admit that it will be difficult with minimal students around for questioning and tips, yet the police plan on continuing the search throughout the holiday week.

Following the early morning attack of a UI police officer by a suspect who is unidentified, Iowa City Area CrimeStoppers announced a $1000 reward for someone to identify the suspect Late Monday night, as most students had returned to Iowa City, the Iowa City Police Association guarenteed another $1000 reward, raising the overall reward for finding the suspect to $2000.

Witnesses identified- still in search for suspect Late Monday night, it was released that the three men who witnessed the attack on the 18th have been identified. They were not amongst the ones who helped the police officer in the attack, but were passerbys as it all unveiled. It is unknown if the three men who were identified have had any contact with interviews with investigators.

Police release
UI police have determined that, when caught, the suspect who alledgedly assaulted and strangled a police officer on November 18th will be charged with attempted murder. This charge is a Class B felony and up to 25 years in prison. -
Elyse Destefano An UI student and friend of the young man on the wanted posters and survellience video captured after the choking of a police officer was arrested Tuesday evening at the Kum n Go in Iowa City. Reports say she was shocked to see her friend on a wanted poster for attempted murder and started tearing them down out of anger and fled the scene. Police cited her and released her.

UI police make arrest As students and citizens return to Iowa City after the Thanksgiving holiday, police were tipped off to a suspect in the choking of a UI police officer Nov 18th. Early Wednesday morning, police showed up at the door of Branden Plummer, 20, a UI student and arrested him with the attempted murder charge.

Court apperance Branden Plummer, 20, who was charged for attempted murder of a UI police officer from November 18th, made his first court appearance via video Wednesday afternoon. He heard Judge Stephen Gerard read him his sentence and announce that he were to be held on cash-only bond of $100,000.

Bond Plummer's attourney made a plea bond on Thursday asking the judge to lower the bond of $100,000, as Plummer is a college student and is unable to reach bond to be freed until trial. The Judge made no change in the bond that Plummer is held on.

Webb Taylor Webb, Plummer's good friend from high school spoke with DI about Plummer's life and relationships with family and friends. Plummer's father died last spring from cancer, and his parents divorced a few years prior. Friends say Plummer never got along with his mother after the death of his father so he would tend to stay with friends in Des Moines.

Bond Review December 1st, Plummer's attourney plead for the bond to be lowered as he is a student. Judge Gerad reviewed Plummer's bond amount on December 5th. After twelve minutes of deliberation, the judge denied Plummer's plea to lower his bond. Resulting for Plummer's failed plea, he remains in jail and Judge Gerad stated it is imperative that Plummer attends future court appearances and to protect the public from any danger.

Finals After Plummer's bail bond lowering negotiation was denied, the officials also decided to not release the UI junior to take finals for his fall semester. The Correctional Services officials stated they would not be comfortable releasing Plummer into the public for any further unknown danger he would present. Plummer was placed on interim suspension when first charged, but will be unable to complete his finals.
