Condor, the minesweeper, caught sight of a periscope about 2 miles off the entrance to Pearl Harbor and sent in a blinking message about it since there weren't supposed to be any subs around there.

The attack on Pearl Harbor started. The Japanese forces were lead by Vice Admiral Chuichi Nagumo, consisting of 353 planes that attacked in two waves against the Pearl Harbor ships.

The second wave of Japanese forces begin to attack the Harbor while Americans try to fight to save their lives. About 160-170 planes were in this wave.

The first assault wave included 51 dive bombers, 40 torpedo bombers, 50 high level bombers, and 43 fighters. They commence the attack with Japanese flight commander.

The attack finally ended. Eight battleships are damaged and five had been sunken. Three light cruisers, three destroyers, 188 aircrafts, and three smaller vessels are lost.

By 9:45 AM, when the attack was finally over, 2,335 servicemen died. 68 civilians were also killed. 1,178 were wounded in some way. 1,104 men aboard the Battleship USS Arizona died when an air bomb was cast upon the ship, causing many explosions.

The Japanese pilots take off and head to Pearl Harbor to start the attack. They had plans to catch them off guard, but if they were being attacked, they had a back up plan, leading wave 2 ahead of wave1.

Japanese pilots retreat to their base to celebrate their victory on bombing Pearl Harbor. Another attack was contemplated but then later it was decided against doing so.

The US declares war on Japan with Britian as their allies. President Roosevelt declared this day to be "a date which will live in infamy."
