The second wave of Japan's strike force 167 planes, attack the dry dock area hitting the Pennsylvania ship, oil tanks and the Raleigh ship.

The strike force turns back for home. Many had called for a third strike but the superiors determine this was a great enough success. The main reason was because they did not know where the U.S carriers were.

The wounded from the ships and the airfields overflow hospitals. Most are horribly burned and others have bullet wounds or punctures from shrapnel. Lawns and barracks are are used to accommodate the overwhelming number of casualties.
