    This event was one of the most important events in WWII. This event included the countries America, Britain, and Canada. These three countries deployed around 160,000 troops along a 50-mile long line in France. These troops helped fight on French land against the Nazi army. Within a month and a half, France was completely liberated from the enemy armies. When the Germans were sent to Calais, this gave the Allies ground in Europe.

    Hitler commits suicide, shortly before the fall of Berlin and surrender of German forces in Europe. Hitler never wanted to accept defeat so he ended up killing himself in one of his heavily armed bunkers. He took a pill to take his own life so that he never had to face his crimes. He was pretty young for his age.

    Japan officially surrenders to the Allied powers on this date. This event included the dropping of two atomic bombs on the country of Japan. The United States dropped the bombs on Japan as a last resort due to the fact that Japan would not stop fighting. The dropping of the atomic bombs officially ends the war when Japan backs down.
