Paul Feyerabend was born on January 13th, 1924 in Vienna, Austria where he attended primary school and high school. It was in the early stages of his life that he developed an interest in the arts. He started singing lessons which resulted in theatre, opera, and singing being some of his lifelong interests. He graduated from high school in April of 1942.

It was after not feeling fulfilled in the German Arbeitsdienst (Official Labour service) that he joined the Army and volunteered for Officer School. He hoped that the war would be over by the time he finished his officer education. That was not the case and in December of 1943 he was struck by three bullets while he was directing traffic. One of the bullets struck him in the spine leaving him using a cane and impotent for the rest of his life.

In 1948 he met Karl Popper in the first meeting of the international summer seminar of the Austrian college society in Alpbach. Popper had a large influence on him and his work. In 1952, Feyerabend studied under Popper at the school of London economics. it was during that time that he "fell for Popper's ideas".

Feyerabend met Imre Lakatos at the London school of economics. Also a student of Karl Popper. They planned to write a joint publication together but Lakatos's sudden death in 1974 put a stop to the project. Feyerabend published his half of the project, Against method and it became a famous criticism of current philosophical views of science. Paul Feyerabend published several works throughout the rest of his life and had works written about him. He passed away on February 11th, 1994.
