  • Doolittle's Raid

    Doolittle's Raid
    The Doolittle's Raid was an air attack on Japan that was launched from the aircraft carrier Hornet, by Lieutenant Colonel James Doolittle. The sixteen B-25s each had a five-man crew and attacked Tokyo. Three of American airman was captured and later executed.

    Coral Sea

    The Coral Sea was the first of the Pacific War's six fights between opposing aircraft carrier forces. The Coral Sea was intended to capture Port Moresby that was located on New Guinea's southeastern coast. Shokaku and Zuikaku were cover that escorted cruisers and destroyers.

    Midway

    Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto planned to knock down Midway's defenses establish a Japanese air base there. The skill of U.S. Navy aviators cost Japan four irreplaceable fleet carriers. While U.S. on the other hand only lost one of the three U.S. carriers.

    Guadalcanal

    United States and its Pacific Allies fought for the land of Guadalcanal. There were two battles air and sea. The aircrafts benefited the Americans and the submarianes benefited the Allies. The Guadalcanal was expensive for both the sides.

    Saipan

    The purpose of this battle was to gain crucial air base. When U.S. trapped tha Japanese they resisted a banzai attack. July 9 the U.S. flag was raised for the victory over Saipan.

    Iwo Jima

    The U.S. fought in this battle for and ending up capturing the island of Iwo Jima. This This was the first American attack on the Japanese Home Islands. The flag was rose the fifth day of the 35 day of battle.

    Okinawa

    Okinawa was the largest naval attack in the Pacific. The Allies planned to use Okinawa as a base for air operations. This battle had the highest number of casualties in the Pacific Theater during World War II.
