Henry Chapman

Eight years older than Vittwia.
Vittwia's brother.
He was a frail and sickly child, and he was never strong.

Vittwia St. Clair Chapman is born

Born in Kentucky.
Daughter of immigrants.

They moved to Burlington, Iowa

She saw indians for the first time.

They moved back to Kentucky

Before the civil war, they moved back to Iowa

Feb 25, 1859

Henry and Vittwia came to Southern Oregon.

Mar 3, 1880

They went out to Henry's place in the foothills.

Vittwia married Michael Mickelson

She would not have married him, but he was sick and needed careful nursing, and she could care for him better as his wife than in any other way.

Michael died

They travelled all over California for his health,
