    Oedipus leaves the oracle.

    Once Oedipus leaves the oracle, he is terrified by his fate and abandons his "home". On the path, he stumbled upon a group of men. He and the men get into an argument, and he ends up killing all but one of them, including his father Lauis. After this, he arrives in the city of Thebes

    Oedipus arrives at Thebes

    When he arrives at the city of Thebes, there is a giant sphynx terrorizing the city. If they don't solve his riddle, then the sphynx kills them. When Oedipus arrives, he solves the riddle and frees the city from the sphynx. The citizens are so overjoyed with there newfound hero, they reward him by making him king and having him marry the queen, his mother, Jocasta.

    A plague hits Thebes

    20 years later, a plague hits Thebes that is wiping out the city's population. Oedipus seeks the oracle for guidance again, which tells him that the person who murdered the previous king is living amongst them and the only way to get rid of the plague is by getting rid of the murderer. King Oedipus makes a speech to the citizens of Thebes, cursing this murderer if he doesn't reveal himself or leave the country

    The blind prophet

    Seeking more guidance, Oedipus seeks out the blind prophet Tiresias, who is believed to see with the eyes of the oracle. He says he cannot tell Oedipus who the murderer is. Oedipus gets extremely frustrated and says Tiresias is a fake. Tiresias tells Oedipus the truth and that he's the one who did it. When he hears this, he sends Tiresias away in disgust.

    The truth is revealed

    Eventually, Jocasta and Oedipus discover the truth of what happened that day. They are both horrified when they come to the realization. Jocasta ends up hanging herself while Oedipus gorges his eyes, causing him to go blind.
