I am a practicing registered nurse in New York and influenced by the Nurse Practice Act of this state. The Nurse Practice Act of New York came to the forefront on October 21, 1902 during a regular quarterly meeting of the Nurses Association in Rochester, New York. The purpose was to create a law for the uniform and definite basis of the nursing practice. This became a law in 1903, and with the first nurse license given on 1904.
